When I surfing the Internet today, I see a picture of Nanning, China taken by the Flying Tigers during World War Two.

It says that this image was taken by the American Volunteer Group(AVG – Flying Tigers) in China in World War Two. As far as I know, at that time the Flying Tigers’ air base is in Guilin, Guangxi China defending this area against JAAF. I am suprised to see this picture and it shows me what Nanning looks like in 1940′s. From the shadows of the pedestrians that I know it was about noon. These old buildings, roads, and that symbolic water tower tell me that it is in the downtown.

Today all these buildings and roads all changed, just the old-Nanning(those old local people) can recognize this old town. But water tower still there. It becomes a famous Nanning placename called “Water Tower Foot“(水塔脚), locates in today’s old CBD, in Xinhua Rd.

Of course this water tower is no longer in ues, it is more like a culture relic, becomes a symbol of the old age in the old-Nanning’s mind.
